The presence of excess upper eyelid skin and fat may be a result of the eyebrow position being lower (brow ptosis) or a true excess of skin and fat or a combination. Other factors that contribute to skin excess and fat include a genetic predisposition.

The eye area has to be assessed by Dr Rory closely as many of the conditions discussed may coexist and so treatment must be tailored specifically.
Non-surgical approaches range from skin resurfacing to tighten excess skin or approaches to reduce swelling around the eye. Surgical treatments range from upper eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) with fat removal or repositioning and brow lifting techniques. These treatments can also be used in combination.
