Once your additional baby weight has gone, you may still see an abdominal bulge. This bulge can be exacerbated visually by a caesarean section scar that can be tightly stuck down.
Indeed, following pregnancy, especially after multiple births or large babies, there can be excess abdominal fat, loose skin and also laxity due to widening of the abdominal muscles. The treatment of this bulge depends on the relative contributions of these three elements. Dr Rory will examine you to determine this.

If there is simply excess fat with good skin quality and no widening of the muscles, treatments to remove the fat are indicated. Surgical removal is perfomed by liposuction with the Bodyjet system. The choice of treatment will be determined during your consultation with Dr Rory.
If there is excess fat and loose abdominal skin (or loose skin alone) without widening of the muscle, then treatments to remove the skin and fat are indicated. If the loose skin extends to the position of the belly button, a mini-tummy tuck can be performed, if it extends beyond the belly button a full abdominoplasty is perfomed.
If all three components exist, a mini tummy tuck or full abdominoplasty can be perfomed with tightening of the abdominal muscles, known as rectus plication. This rectus plication can also be perfomed on its on through an abdominoplasty incision.
